Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has covered natural and war-related disasters for more than 45 years. She focuses on the suffering of those in these areas. Curry was a journalist in war zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Curry was born in Japan, and educated by an Japanese mother. Her father was an U.S. Navy sailor. They met during the time her father was stationed in Japan after World War II. Her father was a member of the military, so her family moved around a lot. Curry was a high school graduate in Ashland Oregon. In the end, University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became a reporter on KCBS TV within four years of having moved into the city. She won 2 Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
